The Florida Project
For The Florida Project, 5309 Casting played a pivotal role in sourcing authentic young talent—casting nearly 90% of the child actors through extensive street casting. Our team worked directly in motels and surrounding areas near Florida theme parks, where many families had been living long-term following the 2007 housing crisis.
While the film starred Willem Dafoe, its emotional core relied on children discovered through real-world casting sessions. This hands-on approach was essential to achieving the film’s gritty authenticity.
